I’m not really a feminist, but I like “girl power.” And my little girl is the epitome of the term. I’ve never been more proud of any other female than I was last Saturday.
Her last and final chemotherapy cycle ended on Saturday, July 18. At the end her treatment that day, she rang the coveted bell and celebrated with the staff including cake, balloons and presents!
When I first found out I was pregnant with a baby girl, I was scared. I never told anyone I was scared. The world can be scary and unfair to females. It’s not right or wrong, it’s just the facts. I never wanted my children to feel any pain or have any obstacles like I have faced. My mom taught my sister and I to have strength within ourselves. That strength got me through some of the toughest times of my life. I knew I had to teach my daughter the same type of strength and I was scared I couldn’t.
Little Lucy Jocelyn Hubbell is already strong at age 13 months old. My daughter is one tough cookie.
Yeah, I’m just a little proud.
